Following the terrible failure of Vaa Vaathiyaar, Karthi is all set to return with his long-pending project Sardar 2 directed by PS Mithran, which is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on September 10th.

Since the announcement, Sardar 2 has had huge expectations among the audience, as the original Sardar was a super hit. Additionally, the glimpse of Sardar 2 released several months ago became a viral hit, receiving super positive responses from viewers who claimed that the visuals looked like a Hollywood film. Consequently, the expectations for the film peaked at a certain point.

However, due to the delay in its release caused by financial issues, the hype for the film got diluted, and at one point, many people even forgot about Sardar 2. Nevertheless, the makers have cleared the financial issues and the film is now finally gearing up for a theatrical release in a few days.

Since Karthi’s last film, Vaa Vaathiyaar, ended up as a terrible disaster and his other film Marshal is also getting delayed due to some issues, the success of Sardar 2 is crucial for the actor.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the Tamil Nadu distribution rights for Sardar 2 have been sold for around 54 crores, which is said to be the highest pre-release business ever for a Karthi film.

In response to the pre-release buzz and hype for Sardar 2, many trade experts are suggesting that the stage is set for a grand opening for Sardar 2 and if director PS Mithran delivers a solid film with a gripping screenplay, the movie has huge potential to do wonders at the box office.

They note that if the film receives positive word of mouth from the audience, Sardar 2 could easily cross the 150-crore mark and potentially become Karthi’s highest grossing solo film.

At the same time, they point to Mandaadi and suggest that Sardar 2 has a deadly opponent. They claim that even though Soori is not as big a star as Karthi, Mandaadi also has solid hype because of its trailer.

Therefore, they feel that it is going to be an interesting clash on September 10th and note that only if Sardar 2 receives positive responses will it be able to sustain its momentum; otherwise, its collections could be heavily dented by Mandaadi.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether Sardar 2 satisfies the expectations of the audience and emerges as a blockbuster success, helping Karthi make a solid comeback upon its release on September 10th.
