
Jamuna passed away in the wee hours of Friday, 27 January and her family confirmed the news some time ago.
It is reported that Jamuna had been suffering from medical complications for many years now and she succumbed to the same earlier today.
Jamuna is regarded as one of the finest actresses in South Indian cinema. She acted in hundreds of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films.
She acted alongside Tollywood stalwarts like Sr NTR, ANR, SV Ranga Rao, Krishna and others. She particularly excelled in playing Satyabhama role and was widely recognised for it.
She was born into a Telugu family. Her father is Nippani Srinivasa Rao and her mother is Kausalya Devi. Jamuna was a successful politician as well. She won from Rajamahendravaram in 1989 on Congress ticket.
