Senior Stars Landmark Film A Copy?

Exactly a week ago the first look motion poster of the senior star, Suresh Gopi, from Malayalam film industry, was launched with great fanfare. Entire fraternity came forward to wish him the best. The reason for it is because it is the landmark 250th film of the star.

The movie featuring Suresh Gopi in a mass avatar is Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. The motion poster is a hit, but barely a week has passed, and the makers have received a jolt.

A case has been filed on the movie Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan from another team, alleging copyright infringement. Today, the Ernakulam district court has passed the judgement indicating that Suresh Gopi’s film is a copy and that the shooting has to be stopped.

The story and character of Tiger from Kaduva starring Prithviraj Sukumaran (not released yet) is lifted in Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. Since the makers of Kaduva has registered the ‘story’ and appropriated the role of Tiger; the court has given a verdict without much delay.

It will be interesting to see what happens next. The makers of Suresh Gopi’s film will have to come back with a response or else the landmark film of the star could be in jeopardy. Irrespective of how things turn out the buzz on the 250th film has now increased enormously.
