Senseless Fascination For Remake Of Mediocre Film

Varun Dhawan and Atlee are all set to collaborate on an action entertainer. Yesterday, they announced the release date on social media. The film will be directed by one of Atlee’s assistants, Kalees, and will be released on May 31st, 2024, in theaters. If speculations are to be believed, then it’s going to be a remake of Vijay’s 2016 film Theri.

It is quite strange that many filmmakers are running behind the mediocre action film that Theri was. Even in Tollywood, we are getting its adaptation in the form of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Harish Shankar.

The Telugu remake faced quite a backlash on social media when it was announced, even from Pawan Kalyan fans. Many felt there was no point in remaking a 2016 film in 2023, especially when its Telugu-dubbed version had already been released a few years ago.

And now Bollywood, which is reeling under the effects of continuous flops, is also remaking Theri in Hindi. Most Hindi remakes like Selfiee, Shehzada, and Bhola have fallen like a pack of cards at the box office, but still, they haven’t learned their lesson and are going to remake Theri, which will be released next year.

One of Varun Dhawan’s promising films, Bawaal, has been dumped on OTT, and this Theri remake is getting ready for a theatrical release next year. It sometimes feels like common sense isn’t that common in the film industry.
