Shankar reveals real budget of “I”

I is the upcoming film of director Shankar and when it’s a film from him usually the kind of budgets we hear are mind-blowing to believe. His latest film I for example has been quoted to be made with a budget of around 180Cr. However when the same question was asked to the director he had a surprising reply.

The director first of all expressed surprise and continued to say that he really has no clue why people automatically assume such huge budgets when he is directing a film. Random improbable numbers are thrown around. But the reality is that “I” has been made under 100Cr budget he says. This is in complete contradiction to what has been a norm in the media till now regarding the budget of the film. And the thing to note is that the producer himself had told the number previously. With two contradictory statements given by producer and director regarding the budget of the film, is this is controversy in brewing?
