Indian cinema produced one of the biggest blockbusters in its history in the form of Dhurandhar 2. The two parts have combined to deliver nearly ₹3000 crore revenue at the global box office.
The discussion now is about the music director associated with these two films, Shashwat Sachdev.
For the last three or four months, all of India has been vibing with the songs associated with Dhurandhar 2. Both the films have banger albums and an even better soundtrack in the actual film.
Naturally, there has been a lot of talk about this talented Bollywood music composer arriving in South Indian Cinema very soon. It was even speculated that he is nearly confirmed to compose the music for the upcoming film of Ram Charan and Sukumar.
But the crucial point of difference here is that Shashwat comes across as a music composer who has his tastes almost entirely aligned with the Hindi sensibilities.
He appears to be more of a natural choice for narrative oriented films like Dhurandhar and not necessarily for the commercial trope films like what we see in Telugu and other South industries.
He is indeed a refined talent, but the sensibilities are clearly with the urban Hindi folk. Whether or not this justifies the massive price tag to bring him South is a question that’s up for debate.
But nevertheless, a talented technician is a talented technician and he can will create a musical experience of his own if given the right ecosystem to thrive. But who is going to be that South Indian director who will make it all happen?
