SHE Teams in Hyd – Big Success

The SHE teams which were setup the same time last year is a huge success in controlling the menace of eve-teasing. SHE Teams so far had arrested as many as 281 offenders in Hyderabad, including 129 minors. The idea which was first implemented in Hyderabad was later expanded to all the districts of Telangana.

So far, 12 cases were booked under the Nirbhaya Act, besides 10 IPC cases in different police stations were registered apart from 126 petty cases. 19 persons were jailed, 101 persons were fined, 39 were warned and let off after counseling in the presence of their parents.

Minors caught were given professional counseling sessions in order to guide them for the career and mould their behaviour in a proper way to become good citizens with the help of a six member panel of professional psychologists and NGOs. The officers of a SHE Team, who are in civil dress, are deployed near colleges and other public places carrying hidden cameras for video recording.
