Shivaji steals the thunder from Chiru

The ongoing hunger strike of Shivaji is stealing all the limelight in terms of popularity and media coverage. He is adamant and vows to continue his deeksha till he achieves special status to AP or else would go on without food till his death. He isn’t the first one to sit for a hunger strike for special status. Megastar Chiranjeevi too did the same kind of deeksha.

Compared to megastar’s image and craze, Shivaji is only a small actor who is associated with BJP party in which many state leaders are not even acknowledging him to be a part of their party of late. And Chiru had been the Central Tourism Minister of State from Congress party. The difference in stature is huge. Nevertheless, it’s Shivaji who steals the thunder.

Here Shivaji isn’t giving importance to his party, instead he is trying raise voice on the behalf of people going against BJP. Hence no political overtones heard and no misperceptions on his genuineness on the issue. Unlike Chiranjeevi who only makes cameo appearances in Congress deekshas and meetings, Shivaji is consistent in raising his voice on the problems of people.

Chiru’s was a tailor-made deeksha for limited hours, but Shivaji says he is going to continue his hunger strike until his last breath if Centre doesn’t accept taking decision on special status for AP. The latest development is, many independent deekshas were taken up in districts by various political and social outfits supporting Shivaji.

Can’t justify if a big issue like special status can be resolved this way. But one can’t deny the impact, Shivaji is creating. Got to wait and see if this remains only ‘a storm in a teacup’ or else something that gives ‘small but huge in impact’ effect.
