Shocking: Jersey TV Premiere Disappoints

The Nani starrer Jersey is continuing to be the biggest shocker of the year. It did way less theatrically for the kind of critical reception it got, and now the same is seen on the Television as well.

Jersey recently had its world television premiere on Zee Telugu. The TRP rating for the first screening hasn’t been very good. It has got a modest 8.8 rating, which is low. In fact, for comparison, the Sankranthi blockbuster F2 has got 9.6 ratings on its third telecast. It really should put things in perspective.

The Nani and Shraddha Srinath starrer Jersey was Gowtham Tinnanuri’s second attempt after Malli Rava. It showcased the story of a cricketer who regained all his lost glory for his child. The coming of age drama mainly focussed on the struggle. One can only assume that it has not appealed to the masses as well as families. Otherwise, one can’t explain the lack of enthusiasm.

Sometimes a film doesn’t do well theatrically but finds the audience post, theatrical run. With Jersey even that doesn’t seem to be the case, going by the rating.
