Sivaji’s Free Fall: Obscene Speech, Backlash, Apology

Actor Sivaji landed in serious trouble after making inappropriate comments about women at the pre-release event of Dhandoraa. While speaking on stage, he talked about how women should dress modestly and used offensive and insulting words while expressing his views. His remarks were widely seen as disrespectful and judgmental toward women, especially actresses.

The comments triggered strong backlash on social media. Many people, including celebrities, criticized him openly. Singer Chinmayi Sripaada, TV host Anasuya Bharadwaj, RGV, Manchu Lakshmi, and Manchu Manoj called his statements regressive and unacceptable. Women’s groups and the general public also condemned the way he spoke about women in a public forum.

Taking the issue seriously, the Telangana State Women’s Commission stepped in on its own. After reviewing the video of his speech, the commission said his remarks were derogatory toward women. A case was registered under the Telangana Women’s Act, and Sivaji was issued a notice asking him to appear before the commission on the 27th of this month in Hyderabad and explain his comments.

Under growing pressure, Sivaji released a public apology video. He admitted that he used two words that were completely wrong and should never have been spoken on stage. He said that even if his intention was to talk about women’s safety or dignity, his language was unacceptable. He apologized to women and to everyone who felt hurt, saying he deeply regretted his mistake.

Even after the apology, the discussion has not died down. Many feel Sivaji is apologizing only because he is afraid that his comments may affect his upcoming film’s prospects at the box office. In today’s time, careless comments, especially about women, can lead to serious social and legal consequences.
