Sree Vishnu will next be seen in the period entertainer Comrade Kalyan. Directed by Janakiram Marella and produced by Venkata Krishna Karnati and Seetha Karnati under Skanda Vahana Motion Pictures LLP, the film has released its theatrical trailer.
Kalyan is a theatre owner whose life seems relatively uncomplicated. Romance changes that equation when he falls for an Odia girl. But Kalyan is hiding a much bigger secret. The police launch a hunt for him. Kalyan is revealed to be a most-wanted Naxalite, transforming the seemingly simple protagonist into a wanted revolutionary. Matters become more serious when he and his gang kidnap a politician, demanding the release of Naxalite comrades from prison.
The trailer shifts between different tones. Instead of staying in one genre, the film moves between humour, romance and action. Sai Sriram’s cinematography captures the natural landscapes, while Vijay Bulganin’s score changes with the mood of the narrative.
Sree Vishnu plays a character built around subtle humour, distinct mannerisms and his familiar dialogue delivery. Mahima Nambiar features in the romantic portions, while Radhika Sarathkumar plays Kalyan’s mother. Satya and Sudarshan provide additional comic support.
The trailer offers a look at the film ahead of its release on the 9th of this month.
