Sreeleela made her debut as a heroine with Pelli SandaD which was a commercial success. A major reason behind this was undoubtedly Sreeleela’s glamour. Her next big film, Dhamaka, followed a similar pattern.
However, ever since Skanda, she has been struggling with back-to-back failures. Her recent films like Aadikeshava and Extraordinary Man ended up as disasters, leaving her career in a slump.
As a result, her demand in Tollywood has significantly dropped. Apart from flops, another bad sentiment seems to be haunting Sreeleela. It is being observed that if she replaces another heroine who was initially cast but later backed out, the film turns into a failure.
Take Guntur Kaaram, for instance. Pooja Hegde was originally cast but later walked out, making way for Sreeleela as the lead heroine. The film, which was released for Sankranthi 2024, failed to deliver the expected results at the box office.
A similar situation happened with Robinhood, where Rashmika Mandanna was the first choice, but due to her busy schedule, she opted out. Sreeleela was brought in, and yet again, the film flopped.
Another example is Ustaad Bhagat Singh, where Pooja Hegde was initially cast but later dropped out, leading to Sreeleela’s inclusion. Since the film hasn’t been released yet, it remains to be seen if the pattern continues.
Interestingly, while Rashmika avoided the Robinhood disaster, she couldn’t escape Sikandar, which released in the same week and turned out to be a huge flop. This marks the end of her golden streak after Animal, Pushpa 2, and Chhaava.
