Dark Truth Behind Child Actors: Used & Thrown Away?

Behind the glitz and glamour of Bollywood lies a disturbing reality for many of its child actors.

From legends like Sridevi, Rekha, Neetu Kapoor, and Sarika to contemporary faces like Hansika Motwani and Reeva Arora.

The story remains largely unchanged: childhoods sacrificed at the altar of fame and family ambition.

Many of these children were pushed into films by parents—often mothers—driven by financial need or unfulfilled dreams.

The industry, lacking proper regulations for decades, exposed these kids to grueling work hours, emotional neglect, and sometimes even physical abuse.

Their earnings, ironically, were rarely in their own control; most had no say over their finances or even their basic life choices.

The most tragic aspect is the loss of a normal childhood.

These children missed out on friendships, education, and the simple joys of growing up.

Instead, they were burdened with adult responsibilities and, in many cases, forced to mature overnight.

The psychological toll is evident in their later lives—unstable relationships, emotional voids, and a constant search for the love and validation they missed as kids.

While a few, like Parzaan Dastur and Darsheel Safary, managed to balance acting with education and eventually step away, most were not so fortunate.

The question remains: can we truly call those who “made it big” as child actors achievers, when the cost was their innocence and well-being?

Bollywood must introspect and prioritize the holistic welfare of its youngest talents, not just their box office appeal.
