Varanasi Surprise Twist: Vijayendra Prasad Not Alone

The members of Rajamouli’s family are known for their talent. His father Vijayendra Prasad is one of the most respected writers in Indian cinema. His cousin brother MM Keeravani is a celebrated music composer with worldwide recognition. Rajamouli’s wife Rama has built a strong reputation as a stylist and costume designer. Another cousin, Kalyani Malik, is also appreciated as a music director. All these names are well known to the public.

However, one member of the family has not received the recognition he deserves. Rajamouli’s cousin brother S. S. Kanchi has always been a multi-talented artist. He first became popular as an actor through the television series Amrutham. His comic timing brought him widespread fame. He later acted in a few films and recently received a good break with Little Hearts.

But Kanchi is much more than an actor. He is also a writer and director. He provided the story for Maryada Ramanna. He also contributed to the writing of several Rajamouli films like Eega and Magadheera.

Now, Kanchi has worked on one of the most anticipated projects. Varanasi, the massive film directed by Rajamouli with Mahesh Babu in the lead, has Kanchi as part of the core writing team. Usually, Vijayendra Prasad receives the primary story credit for Rajamouli’s films. Even when other writers assist him including Rajamouli, the major contribution usually comes from him.

This time, Kanchi worked with Vijayendra Prasad from the beginning. His name appears right next to Vijayendra Prasad’s in the Varanasi title reveal video. Both writers will share story credit.

Kanchi has deep knowledge of Indian epics and mythology. This understanding helped him shape the world of Varanasi. Many feel that this film may finally give Kanchi the recognition he deserves. With the scale of Varanasi and the global attention surrounding it, he may get the big break he has been waiting for.
