Star hero's Ad fails, Court orders 15Lakh fine

These days, both the television platform and print media is filled with advertisements claiming to do farfetched things. However, it seems now that the consumers have now become aware of the eyewash and are taking steps to correct these issues.

Case in point is the latest incident regarding the cream ‘Fair and Handsome’ advertised by the Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan. As it so happens, a man named Nikhil Jain bought this cream which promised to ensure fairness with three weeks of use. But this did not happen and a disappointed Nikhi went to the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (Central) to file a complaint. He wanted to ensure that no other consumer fall for this scam again.

Fortunately, the forum gave the judgement in favour of the complainant and hasimposed the penalty of Rs 15,00,000 /- on the Emami company and have asked them to withdraw their advertisements and also pay a sum of Rs 10,000/- to the complainant as compensation.
