Stop calling ‘Holiday’ a remake: Akshay

He said that it was a fresh script and we were going to make it first in Hindi, but A.R. Murugadoss (the director) had a condition that he first wanted to make the film in Tamil. The Tamil version called ‘Thuppakki’ released in 2012. So the film is not a remake for him. He added that it is a script and subject that he had selected earlier. Producer Vipul Shah and he had gone for a narration. He had sat with Murugadoss and after listening to the first half, he agreed to do the film. The first half was mind blowing. He really enjoyed doing it.

Akshay plays an army officer in the film, which focuses on terrorism and sleeper cells, also features Sonakshi Sinha. But from the trailer of Holiday, it looks like a frame-to-frame copy of the Tamil film.
