Prabhas’ upcoming film, The Raja Saab, is a romantic comedy horror directed by Maruthi and produced under People Media Factory. This marks Prabhas’ first venture into horror-comedy, where he’s set to return to his vintage style.
Initially, many expected the project to be low-budget and quickly completed when Prabhas teamed up with Maruthi. However, the film’s shoot began in September 2022 and is now slated for an April 2025 release, taking longer than even some of Prabhas’ big-budget pan-India movies.
Recently, producer TG Vishwa Prasad shared exciting news about the film’s budget, revealing that The Raja Saab has a massive budget of around ₹400 crores.
He expressed confidence that despite being considered an underdog in Prabhas’ filmography, it will eventually stand out as one of his best works, offering a significant visual spectacle.
With the phenomenal success of Stree 2, the horror-comedy genre is currently in high demand. To justify its hefty budget of 400 crores, Raja Saab must perform exceptionally well in all languages, especially in the Hindi market.
Given the current audience preference for horror comedies, Raja Saab has a promising chance to do well at the box office, provided it’s well-crafted.
Now, the onus is on director Maruthi to deliver a solid entertainer that will make audiences happy across the country.
