Superstar Dad Risking Son’s Career On OTT

Since the onset of Covid second wave, a fair few big-ticket films have gone the OTT way. Here is one such development pertaining to Tamil cinema.

Tamil star, Vikram’s upcoming film Mahaan, which also features his son Dhruv in the other lead role, is set to premiere directly on OTT. As per reports, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the direct to OTT rights of Mahaan.

Well, Dhruv made a disappointing debut with Adithya Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy. It was expected that his second film, Mahaan, which promised to be an exciting one might get his career back on track.

However, now that Mahaan looks set to land directly on OTT, Dhruv seems to be missing what appears to be a promising opportunity. Even if the film gets a good response from the OTT audience, it might not boost Dhruv’s career noticeably as an OTT hit is not as effective as a theatrical hit.

As it appears, Vikram is taking a big risk with his son’s career by releasing the most exciting film in the latter’s career on OTT.
