Surprising Everyone, 2.0 Giving Opposite Results

Robo, the film that came way back in 2010 was a blockbuster movie in South India. It was also dubbed and released in Hindi but was a flop.

Cut to 2018, after the phenomenal success of Baahubali movies the potential of massive pan-Indian films was in everyone’s mind. The makers of 2.0 also had got the casting in place with similar thinking. Still, not many were confident of the movie in the Hindi heartland.

Now, six days into the run of 2.0, the tables have turned upside down. The biggie is going to be a sure shot hit and more in Hindi whereas the Southern versions are struggling for hit status. In Telugu, it can be ruled out unless there is a very long run with a drastic pick up in the weekends. The same is the case with Tamil Nadu as well. The result is going to be opposite of what trade thought initially.

2.0 has so far collected more than 120 Cr in Hindi in just six days. The way it is collecting, the trade is confident that it will go past 200 Cr to become a blockbuster for distributors. By the end of the extended first week, 2.0 is likely to emerge as highest grossing Akshay Kumar film in India. As far as Rajinikanth goes, it will be a major success for him in Hindi after decades.
