SVC Vs Mythri: Council Penalizes Theaters

Tollywood had two new theatrical debutants in Guntur Kaaram and HanuMan yesterday. Incidentally, there were reports that a few theaters in the Nizam region that had signed agreements for the screening of Hanuman backtracked at the last minute and didn’t screen this film.

Mythri, who brought the rights of HanuMan, and the producer of the film Niranjan Reddy, complained about the same to the Producers Council and there is some affirmative action in this regard now.

The Council reprimanded the theaters which broke the agreement and mentioned that actions like these threaten the entire film industry. Not just that, the council has penalized these theaters as well.

The Council ordered these theaters which had prior agreements to screen HanuMan but didn’t do so, to immediately start screening the film. The Council had also ordered these theaters to bear the losses incurred. They ordered theaters to compensate the distributor for the number of shows they had lost for not screening HanuMan.

The Council urged exhibitors and theater owners not to do unethical stuff like this in the future.
