However, she once openly criticized the glorification of toxic masculinity in South Indian films.

In an interview in 2023, she opened up about why she didn’t want to work in the South Indian film industry anymore.

She addressed the typecast formula used in mass entertainers and said that despite being part of such films, she often struggled to relate to the characters she was given.

The actress revealed that many films deliberately celebrated toxic masculinity just to ensure commercial success. Tamannaah emphasized that, over time, she chose to distance herself from such projects.

Reports suggest that more than 60% of theatre audiences are male, leading many filmmakers to create movies that reflect patriarchal views, often reducing female characters to mere supporting roles.

Even in most of today’s commercial successes, very few films portray women in the lead.

However, with the rise of OTT platforms, cinema has started shifting its course. More films now feature empowered female characters, often revolving around them.

After appearing in several Hindi films and series, Tamannaah is set to return to Tollywood with her upcoming project, Odela 2.

This supernatural thriller, directed by Ashok Teja, portrays Tamannaah in a strong female role unlike anything we have seen from her before.

Her comeback looks promising, and fans are excited for it.
