Tamil cinema continues to score strongly when compared to Telugu cinema, especially in technical excellence. One major area where the difference is clearly visible is music composition. The sheer volume of talented music directors in Tamil cinema stands out.
Tamil cinema currently has close to ten music composers who can deliver strong and memorable albums. Each of them is capable of handling films independently. Their consistency keeps the industry musically rich and competitive.
Some of the most talked-about names include Anirudh Ravichander and Sai Abhyankar. Regular and dependable composers such as Santhosh Narayanan, GV Prakash, A R Rahman, Haris Jayaraj, and Yuvan Shankar Raja continue to dominate the space.
Tamil cinema is also witnessing the massive impact Anirudh is creating with the new song Aaya Sher from The Paradise. The song is trending widely and exploding across social media platforms.
In contrast, Telugu Cinema has struggled to produce a similar depth of musical talent in recent years. The industry currently depends heavily on just two major names. They are Devi Sri Prasad and Thaman.
Unfortunately, neither has displayed peak form consistently in the recent past. While a few young composers are emerging, their ability to handle big films with strong musical identity remains uncertain.
At present, Tamil cinema appears far ahead of Telugu cinema on multiple fronts. When it comes to nurturing music composers, Telugu cinema still has significant ground to cover.
