It is known that Tamil audiences rarely appreciate films of other heroes from other Indian languages. Name any pan-Indian film, and it is given that the Tamil audiences simply do not welcome the film. It has been the case with all heroes so far, except for Baahubali 2 and, to some extent, RRR.
Even films that have done well in Hindi have underperformed in Tamil. One such example is that of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, which did great in the Hindi belts. Though the subject and setup were relevant and related to the border district of Tamil Nadu, Chittoor, the Tamil audiences did not wholeheartedly accept Pushpa.
So, the makers of Prabhas’ Project K, which is being made under the Vyjayanti Movies banner and is being directed by Nag Ashwin, have made a smart move by roping in none other than Kamal Haasan.
Kamal Haasan’s name will be a huge draw in the Tamil markets, and Tamil thambis won’t be able to resist watching Kamal Haasan with Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan this time. Kamal has incredible goodwill among the audience as an actor, which will prove beneficial in the Telugu and Hindi markets also in a big way.
It remains to be seen if director Nag Ashwin can create timeless magic on-screen with Project K, given that he has a dream cast on board!
