Telangana Land Survey meets roadblocks!

The prestigious plans of the Telangana government to conduct the comprehensive land survey in the state hit a road block initially itself. The state had sought funds for the survey from the Union ministry of rural development (MoRD). The survey is going to cost Rs 260 crore fixing Rs 16,500 as the cost for surveying one square kilometer of land. MoRD had rejected the request for Hyderabad since it is an urban area.

That will mean the government will take up the survey excluding Hyderabad where hundreds of acres of government land is encroached. MoRD also rejected the survey in Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts citing other technical reasons. The state officials are currently in talks with their central counterparts to clear the roadblocks for the complete survey of the state. The state government will need to seek help from ministry of urban development for funding for land survey in Hyderabad. the survey once it begins will take two-three years to complete and another two-three years will go in to computerizing the findings.
