Telugu Techie arrested for cheating US consulate

Mohammed Naseeruddin, an Andhra Pradesh resident reportedly submitted forged documents when he went to US consulate to obtain a work visa on September 14th. The consultate officials were suspicious of him for some reason and had emailed the testimonials to the Hyderabad software company whose letterheads he had used, to verify his credentials.

It was proved that his credentials were fake. He is now arrested by the Mumbai Police and hunt is on for the agent who helped him obtain them. It is said that he is a qualified computer engineer with a genuine degree, and has worked in the UK for a few years until he returned to India but could not find a job here.

To get placed in US, he took the help of an agent who provided him with the the ‘testimonials’—an appointment letter, work experience, salary certificates of the Hyderabad-based company and also the US job fair letter. He was booked under the Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery of electronic record), 471 (using as genuine a forged electronic record) and 34 (common intention).
