TFI Progress Report: Only 4 Films Worked So-Far!

Tollywood blew hot and cold thus far in 2022. In the last five months, there have been just four box office hits. The biggest of the lot is obviously RRR.

The said four hits are Bangarraju, DJ Tillu, RRR, and KGF 2(dubbed). These are the only four 2022 Telugu releases that reaped profits for the buyers.

On the other hand, films like Acharya and Radhe Shyam have ended up as mega disasters. These films incurred huge losses to everyone involved.

As for the recent release, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, there is a talk that the film made Rs 100 crores share. But even in that case, the film will end up as a box office failure as the breakeven figure is marginally higher. The film couldn’t reap profits for the buyers in any area.

Coming to Bheemla Nayak, the film was sold for high prices and it ended up as an above-average farer at the box office, despite the good word of mouth.

With just four hits in the last five months, it needs to be said that Tollywood’s success rate has been on the lower side. But interesting films like Ante Sundaraniki and Major are up for release in the next 2-3 weeks. We should wait and see how these films fare.
