Major Setback for Karthi, Spoof Film Dominating

Karthi’s last film ‘Theeran Adhigaran Ondru’ was a hit movie and was appreciated by one and all. Even in Telugu, it came as ‘Khakhi’ and did a decent business at the box-office. But, his latest release ‘Chinna Babu‘ is a big disappointment.

A small film ‘Thamiz Padam 2‘ starring Shiva has overpowered Karthi’s movie by collecting more than Rs 10 crores while Karthi’s movie couldn’t beat the small movie. The above-mentioned small film has no A-listers and hence, it’s a big number indeed for the spoof film. It was almost unthinkable that a spoof film will be in the number one position among this week’s releases in Kollywood.

Even in the US, the performance of both the Tamil and the Telugu versions of ‘Chinna Babu’ is disappointing when compared to ‘Thamiz Padam 2’. ‘Chinna Babu’ was produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainments and this comes as a bigger disappointment even for the duo’s fans.
