Box Office: Hype Nil, Bookings Full

One of the least hyped films from Tamil star Vijay in the recent years is GOAT which is arriving in theaters on the 5th of this month. The anticipation is so low that not many Telugu audience even know that the film is arriving in another three days.

However, the film is silently doing its job when it comes to the advance bookings in the domestic Tamil market and also the USA box office.

At the US box office, GOAT has reportedly grossed over $470K for the premiere shows which is a pretty sizeable number. This is the second biggest start for Vijay after Leo and it has already beaten Beast.

Even in Tamil Nadu, the bookings are said to be on an elite level, which is pretty much a given considering Vijay’s superstardom there.

There are reports that GOAT could open to top 3 openings of all time at the Tamil box office. If that is the case, then pulling such numbers with such low pre-release hype could cement Vijay’s stardom further.

The Telugu market is virtually lifeless for this film thus far but this is also bound to change based on the early word of mouth.

The teasers and trailer had zero impact on the Telugu folk hence the lack of early reception for the film. But in Tamil and other overseas markets, the Vijay mark box office pull is as good as it can be.
