
Well, the TRP’s are out, and they are expectedly low. Still, it has found a place among the all-time top 5 among the dubbed movies. KGF: Chapter 1 has garnered a TRP of 11.9. It reflects only the Urban viewing; the overall number (Urban + Rural) would be even less.
Contemplating on the positives and negatives – no Kannada dubbed movie has ever generated interest among the Telugu home viewing audience, let alone deliver a top 5 TRP. Additionally, there has been an enormous gap between the theatrical release and movie premiere. In between, we have had a digital debut, as well.
On the other side, if we were to find the negatives, it is clear that families aren’t keen on the movie. They are not the target audience, from the beginning. It means a limiting prospect for the sequel, KGF: Chapter 2 whenever it hits the cinemas.
That KGF managed to get into top 5 despite the factors mentioned above points at the massive cult craze and following it has developed among its target audience. It is from that particular segment it is generating maximum interest. If the sequel managed to live up to their expectations, the numbers would be huge, no doubt.
