Superstar Rajini’s Kabali tops the list when it comes to Tamil movie premiere collections. The premier (including Day 1) collections of Kabali remain untouched even to this day. The film collected $2.73 Million from its premiere shows in 2016. Rajini’s 2.0 is the second best, with collections of $983 K from its premiere.

The recently released Tamil films like Thalapathy Vjay’s Beast and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram collected $808 K and $863 K on their premiere days, respectively. These collections are considered phenomenal for the Tamil industry but are no match to the hype created by Kabali.

The trade circles predict that no Tamil movie in the near future can gross as much as Kabali did in 2016. The hype, the pre-release bookings, the collections, and the madness was unreal for Kabali.

Some on social media are also saying that the only south Indian film that can challenge the Kabali’s US premiere numbers is #SSMB28. The combination of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram is said to be a match made in heaven for the overseas box office business.

The trade circles say that both enjoy a tremendous fan following in the US market, and the next film in their combo should come close to the Kabali collections, though eventually, it might not beat it.
