Of course, like most films these days, the trailer opens in a foreign locale and then immediately shifts to a bank that is targeted by Ajith. The trailer is a good 3-4 minutes long, but all that one gets to see is gunfire, gunfire, and more of gunfire.
Ajith is wanted by the cops following the heist. There is the usual main cop played by Samuthirakani with grey shades who wants the protagonist by hook or crook. Then, there is the wily politician and a money-hungry banker who is the hero’s target. Manju Warrier plays Kanmani, who will be Ajith’s accomplice and not his love interest.
The film also reminds us of the blockbuster web series Money Heist in some parts. Ajith’s character has some shades of Vinayak Mahadevan, from the 2011 hit Mankatha. Technically the film looks superior and stylish but one would have loved to see some emotions also in the film’s trailer.
Vijay’s fans on social media are saying that Thunivu has BEAST vibes.
The film directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor is likely to get screens at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and New York Times Square, once it has a digital release. Though a film made on a huge canvas in keeping with Ajith’s stardom, one cannot help but notice the inane gun fires throughout!
