2024 2nd Half: Real Game Starts Now

The first half of 2024 is done and dusted in terms of box office returns for Telugu cinema. Barring Hanuman, there were no big-money box office winners in what has been a rather dry period for Telugu cinema.

Now, the focus has shifted onto the second half of 2024 which looks packed to the tranches with multiple big-ticket outings.

It all starts with Kalki which is arriving on the 27th of this month and this is tipped to be one of the costliest projects ever in Indian cinema, if not the costliest. This is the first superstar biggie to arrive in theaters in the latter half of 2024 and there is a lot riding on it.

Then we have Pushpa 2 on August 15 and this is another box office monster. The Allu Arjun starrer comes with the sequel hype and it has endless box office potential if Sukumar can deliver the goods. Sky is the limit for this film at the box office if the talk is good.

NTR’s Devara is announced for release on October 10 but there are reports that it could be pushed to September 27 if the product is readied in advance. This is NTR’s next big pan Indian outing after RRR so there is a lot at stake. Even in making terms, Koratala Siva is bound to deliver with this film.

Then we have the floaters in the form of Game Changer and Hari Hara Veera Mallu which are locked for arrival in 2024 but haven’t yet locked the release dates. If things go as planned, these films could also be arriving in the last quarter of 2024.

While three box office biggies have already locked 2024 release, we have two floaters and if they too make it, then the closing half of 2024 will have five biggies which will mean that big stuff is guaranteed. Needless to say, this kind of superstar action is the need of the hour to pull the audience back to the theaters.
