Tollywood: 3.5 Out of 5 on Twitter, 0.5 at Box Office

Lately in Tollywood, a new trend has become noticeable with a few small films, especially from certain producers. The moment these films release, social media gets flooded with so called reviews. Within minutes, tweets start appearing every 30 seconds, rating the film 3.25 out of 5 or 3.5 out of 5, calling it a must watch.

A quick look at these tweets makes the pattern obvious. The tweets are identical. The wording is almost the same. Even though hundreds of tweets are posted, the format and tone feel copied and pasted. It clearly looks fake.

But reality hits the very next day. The film faces the real test at the box office. Even night shows struggle big time. On BookMyShow, the screens are mostly green, with barely any fast filling shows. That tells the real story.

It is surprising that some filmmakers still believe such fake reviews can push audiences to theatres. The truth is simple. Only the film works. If it delivers and people feel it is worth a theatre watch, they show up. If it does not, no amount of manufactured hype can save it.

We are in 2026. Gen Z and regular moviegoers are not naive. They quickly recognize templated tweets and paid hype. Instead of getting influenced, many end up laughing at the obvious manipulation.

It is not difficult to understand. Given the scale and casting of these small films, such a massive flood of identical tweets would never happen organically. When the reviews look templated and appear in bulk within minutes, the intent becomes clear. And once again, it proves that artificial noise cannot replace genuine word of mouth.
