Tollywood Sexualizing Janhvi Kapoor Unlike Mrunal?

Fans are eagerly waiting for Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi, set to release in 2026. To keep the buzz alive, the makers have been releasing promotional content, including the first song “Chikiri Chikiri,” featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.

In the video, Janhvi appears in short blouses and a skirt, performing sensual dance moves that have sparked mixed reactions online. Many viewers feel the visuals cater too strongly to the male gaze rather than complement the story or character depth.

The song went viral, but not for its music or choreography. Fans criticised the makers, saying Janhvi’s role seems limited to adding glamour instead of contributing meaningfully to the narrative, a concern they had earlier expressed during her role in Devara: Part 1.

Several viewers compared her situation to that of Mrunal Thakur, who once faced similar typecasting in Bollywood. Telugu cinema later gave Mrunal powerful roles in Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, which allowed her to prove her acting range and emotional depth.

In contrast, fans believe Janhvi, despite being Sridevi’s daughter and carrying high expectations, is being reduced to ornamental roles in Telugu films. Some blame her film choices, others hold the industry responsible, while many choose to reserve judgment until Peddi releases.
