US Box Office: Surprise, Shock, and More Shock!

On August 15th, several films were released across India, with the Telugu industry seeing multiple premieres, including Mr. Bachchan, Double iSmart, and Aye.

These films were released because Sukumar failed to release Pushpa 2 as previously announced.

Despite the pre-release buzz created by director Harish Shankar, Mr. Bachchan, starring Ravi Teja, failed to generate any significant interest in the U.S. The word from India’s premieres negatively impacted the U.S. collections, with Mr. Bachchan earning a meager $72K over two days (including premieres and Day 1), not even reaching the $100K mark.

Puri Jagannadh’s Double iSmart performed slightly better than Harish Shankar’s film but still had disappointing results, grossing $106K over two days.

The real surprise came from the Bollywood film Stree 2, which grossed $386K from premieres and Day 1. It is expected to continue performing well in the coming days with a long run ahead.
