As a few days have passed and Tv9 and ABN channels are still off air, the issue has now reached the center. The management of the two channels mentioned has reported the issue to the Union information and broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javdekar. Working on the issue Javdekar asked the Telangana chief secretary, Dr Rajeev Sharma, to give in a detailed report on the blocking of TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy channels by Telangana Cable network MSOs.
It is said that Prakash Javdekar had not only asked for a detailed report, but also asked the Telangana chief secretary to submit the type of actions being taken to resolve the ban issue on these two channels. After hearing the first reports from his sources, Javdekar felt that the cable operators shouldn’t have the power to ban media channels since the cable industry ought to work under center.
