U.S. BO: Long Weekend Advantage For SIR

Dhanush is coming up with Tamil-Telugu bilingual Vaathi/Sir this week. The film is carrying decent expectations in the trade as well as the audience because of its good trailer, strong production house, and formidable star cast.

The film is releasing on February 17, and the US premiere shows will start on the 16th. Sir will enjoy a 3-day long weekend in the U.S. as Monday is also a holiday due to Presidents’ Day. The recent small releases also either failed or completely dried down so people will be looking for a fresh release to watch over the long weekend.

On this day, governmental establishments, non-retail companies, several IT firms and schools are shut down. But, we need a film that opens with a decen talk and can excite the audiences.

Dhanush’s last film, Thiruchitrambalam, turned out to be his biggest grosser worldwide, with over Rs. 100 crores gross collections.

If Sir/Vaathi gets a positive talk on its first day, then the film will reap the benefits of the long weekend in the US and might turn out to be Dhanush’s biggest grosser by beating Thiruchitrambalam.
