Unreal & Unreasonable Hate For ‘Blockbuster’ Actor

Vikrant Massey, known for his recent blockbuster ’12th Fail’, shared insights into his diverse family during a recent interview.

His family comprises a Sikh mother, a Christian father who attends church regularly, a brother who converted to Islam, and himself, along with his Hindu wife.

Massey expressed his belief that religion is a man-made construct, stemming from his upbringing filled with debates on spirituality.

Following the interview, some so-called nationalists and bhakts of the current central government, hurt by his statements, dug out Massey’s old tweet from 2018, where he shared an editorial cartoon that showed Goddess Sita telling Lord Ram, “I’m so glad I was kidnapped by Ravan and not by your bhakts!”.

He had written that tweet expressing anger over the gangrape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua.

Massey issued an apology for any offense caused, clarifying that he never intended to disrespect the Hindu community.

Massey’s journey in the industry has been one of perseverance. Starting with small TV roles in 2007, he made his feature film debut in 2013’s ‘Lootera’ and continued to strive for recognition through various projects like ‘Chhapaak’ and ‘Mirzapur’.

It took him 16 years to achieve blockbuster success with ’12th Fail’ in 2023.

Amidst attempts to tarnish his career over personal opinions, Massey deserves acknowledgment for his dedication and hard work. Let’s appreciate his journey and talent instead of focusing on divisive narratives based on religion.
