Upasana’s Pregnancy Advice Backfires: Huge Uproar

Upasana Konidela, who is now expecting her second child, has become the center of a huge uproar on social media after the advice she recently gave young women. During her visit to IIT Hyderabad, she told students that women should consider freezing their eggs as insurance for the future. She also said they should focus on becoming financially independent before thinking about marriage.

Upasana shared a video from the event. She noted that more men raised their hands when she asked who wanted to get married. She said the women looked more career focused and called this a sign of a progressive India. She encouraged students to set their vision and define their goals. She asked them to become unstoppable.

Her comments immediately sparked a wide debate online. Several social media users pointed out that late pregnancies can come with health risks. They accused her of encouraging postponement without proper medical guidance. A few slammed her for speaking about medical decisions even though she is not a doctor. They added that coming from a wealthy family means she cannot fully relate to middle class struggles.

Some of the comments that condemned her statements are given below.

“Do not take life advice from people who live off inherited wealth.”

“She is not a doctor. She talks like one because her family owns a hospital. Most women finish studies by twenty-two and settle into a job by twenty-five. Should they not plan marriage and pregnancy early”

“Thanks for advising women to delay marriage and fertility. They may eventually come to her hospital.”

“A thirty-six-year-old woman who married at twenty-three and inherited everything is telling girls that late marriage makes India progressive.”

“Capitalism loves feminism. Delaying childbirth benefits IVF and pharma businesses. Why not tell women to have kids in their twenties and focus on career later”

Another group defended Upasana strongly. They said financial independence is essential. They also said women deserve full control over their marriage and motherhood timelines. They pointed out that Upasana herself faced years of pressure. She also faced constant questions about not having children. She married Ram Charan in 2012. She became a mother only when she felt ready. Supporters say she has every right to encourage young women to choose their own path without societal pressure.

And while the debate continues, one harsh truth remains. When people from privileged families and backgrounds try to lecture hard working common people, their advice is often rejected. That is something celebrities must always remember.
