US BO: Slow Start For Bangarraju

Nagarjuna‘s latest theatrical outing Bangarraju hit the silver screens today. The film released with a sizeable advantage as it is the solo biggie to hit the big screens this Sankranthi season. The fact that it is the sequel to the blockbuster Soggade Chinni Nayana is another advantage.

Coming to the topic, despite facing competition from Nannaku Prematho, Soggade Chinni Nayana could put on a good show at the USA box office. After collecting around $50K on its opening day, the film went on a long run at the US box office and it collected around $840K.

Now, Bangarraju has gotten off to a rather timid start as well. The film collected $39K on its opening day in the US market. It remains to be seen if Bangarraju can emulate Soggade’s feat at the US box office by converting the slow start into a long run.

Bangarraju has opened to negative reviews, but it is still the pick of the films that released today. The Sankranthi festival season advantage might be the deciding factor in the film’s full run at the US box office.
