US BO: Dunki Nowhere Near Salaar

In exactly 9 days, two Indian superstars will be clashing at the box office as Dunki and Salaar are set for release on the 22nd of this month. Here is a look at the performance of the two films at the US box office.

As for the USA pre-sales, Salaar has done an impressive $625K till now. The film is seeing a good daily jump and should post a big number by the time of the premiere.

As for Dunki, the film has started off on a shockingly low note for a film that marks the coming together of SRK and Hirani, two of the biggest names in Bollywood. The film has collected a meager $93K till now.

As things stand, Salaar is 7X that of Dunki as far as pre-sales go. SRK’s film is nowhere near the Prabhas starrer.

Notably, SRK had two $10 million+ grossing films already this year with Pathaan and Jawan. His collaboration with Hirani itself should wreak havoc at the overseas box office but that isn’t happening with Dunki now, given the low buzz for the film.

But one can never underestimate SRK and Hirani. If the talk is good, the film could go on a long run at the box office, a trademark trait of Hirani films. Coming back to Salaar, the film is already on course for a good start, despite the lack of promotions from the makers. It has to be seen what kind of numbers these two films will post in the long run.
