US BO: No Fire Works For Diwali

Tollywood saw multiple new releases at the box office this Diwali season. The likes of Ori Devuda, Sardar, Prince, and Ginna hit the big screens. What’s the status of these films at the USA box office? Here’s a brief report.

Ori Devuda has collected $118K till now which is a poor number. The Vishwak Sen starrer opened to okayish-to-decent reviews but the USA box office performance is not on desired level. This is no good news for Vishwak.

With a grand total of $1640, Manchu Vishnu’s Ginna is going nowhere at the USA box office.

Prince has collected $142K till now and this is not too positive for Sivakarthikeyan. The slapstick comedy hasn’t necessarily struck a chord with all sections of the audience.

Of the 4 releases, Sardar has comparatively done better by collecting $216K. But again, this is a very moderate number for a Karthi starrer.

There is only one film that is lighting fireworks – Kantara and it too didn’t release during the Diwali season. The Kannada version did $934K at the USA box office while the Telugu version did $351K. The total stands at 1.28 million which is one of the biggest tallies for a Kannada film in the USA.
