The box office clash between Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Dhurandhar 2 has become one of the most discussed topics in the Telugu film industry. Ticket pricing, advance bookings, and promotional strategies are all shaping the narrative ahead of their big theatrical battle.
Pawan Kalyan’s big-budget action entertainer Ustaad Bhagat Singh is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, with only a few days remaining before release.
As expected, the Andhra Pradesh Government has officially issued a G.O. allowing higher ticket prices for the film. According to the order, benefit show tickets will be priced at Rs.500. For the first ten days of the film’s run, multiplex theatres can add Rs.125 to the regular ticket price, while single-screen theatres are permitted to charge an additional Rs.100.
These prices still appear reasonable when compared to recent big-ticket releases where benefit show prices reached Rs.800 to Rs.1,000. Meanwhile, the Telangana Government is also expected to issue a similar order soon. Once the order becomes official, theatres will begin opening advance bookings for the film.
The timing of the release also works in its favor. The film arrives on March 19 during Ugadi, followed immediately by Eid al-Fitr the next day. With two major festivals falling back-to-back and benefit shows planned, the movie has a strong chance of attracting large crowds during its opening weekend.
Interestingly, while Ustaad Bhagat Singh will release with higher ticket prices, Dhurandhar 2 is arriving in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana without any ticket hikes. Even without premium pricing, the film is already showing phenomenal momentum. Paid preview bookings are said to be historic, and advance sales for regular shows have also begun on a great note, particularly in the Nizam region where advance bookings are fantastic.
Because Ustaad Bhagat Singh is a local film backed by Pawan Kalyan’s massive star power, it is still expected to take a bigger opening than Dhurandhar 2. However, higher ticket prices alone cannot guarantee long-term dominance at the box office.
This is where Dhurandhar 2 will have an advantage. The first part was widely appreciated for its strong content, engaging storytelling, stellar performances, and banger music. The sequel is now carrying huge hype, and if the word of mouth turns out to be as positive as the first film, it could perform exceptionally well in the Telugu states and even surpass Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
On the other hand, the promotional content of Ustaad Bhagat Singh has not created a strong impact so far. The teaser and three songs released from the film have struggled to generate strong excitement. Much of the current buzz is mainly driven by Pawan Kalyan’s popularity. A grand pre-release event is scheduled on March 15 in Hyderabad, and the theatrical trailer is also expected to arrive today. These final promotional pushes will be crucial, especially to attract neutral and family audiences beyond the core fan base.
Because of the ticket price difference and the strong advance bookings for both films, the clash has become a heated discussion on social media.
If Ustaad Bhagat Singh receives positive reviews after release, it could maintain strong box office collections for at least two weeks. Otherwise, with the massive hype around Dhurandhar 2 already, the road ahead could become much tougher for Pawan Kalyan’s film, despite the summer holidays and festive season.
