Weekend BO: How Did Kanakaraju And Kanagaraj Do?

Telugu audience were served two interesting films last weekend in the form of Korean Kanakaraju and DC. One is a Telugu comedy drama featuring Varun Tej in the lead role and the other Is a Tamil film featuring Director Lokesh Kanagaraj in the central role.

Now, if we have a look at the numbers that are posted by both these films at the box office or the weekend, there’s some promise here.

Firstly, the Varun Tej film has reportedly collected in the vicinity of ₹37 crore at the box office. This number was communicated by the production house themselves.

Varun Tej, who was in desperate need for commercial success, appears to have achieved it to a reasonable extent with this comedy entertainer. The comical genius performance of Sathya appears to have worked at the trick for this film.

Then we have the case of DC, which did not have much expectations going into its release in the first place. But this film gained momentum after the release, thanks to some technical brilliance and the brand value of Anirudh Ravichander.

There is no official number from the production house regarding the collections of this film yet, but it is safe to say that it could be posting significant revenues. The booking trend on BookMyShow has been very positive.

It is good to see South Indian box office firing finally with a couple of films being able to bring audience back to theatres in numbers.
