Is Vijay Deverakonda Trapped by His Own Stardom?

Vijay Deverakonda And The Weight Of Stardom

Vijay Deverakonda did not become a star overnight. Before Arjun Reddy changed his life, there were years of small roles, struggle and waiting for that one opportunity. Pelli Choopulu finally gave him the breakthrough, but Arjun Reddy turned that breakthrough into stardom.

That success came with a price. Vijay was no longer just an actor looking for good roles. He had become a brand, and every film was expected to live up to the image created by Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam. The bigger the star became, the harder it became to make choices like the struggling actor who had nothing to lose.

The post-Arjun Reddy phase tells the story. There were ambitious attempts, pan-India plans and films that carried huge expectations, but the consistency disappeared. Liger, Kushi, The Family Star and Kingdom could not give Vijay the sustained momentum his stardom demanded. Recent career reports have also pointed to this gap between his popularity and box-office consistency.

Interestingly, Vijay Deverakonda himself acknowledged the change while completing 10 years as a lead actor, saying he now feels the “weight” on his shoulders.

Now Ranabaali arrives with Vijay in a completely different world, followed by Rowdy Janardhana. The next phase may decide whether he can finally stop chasing the shadow of the star he became.

Vijay spent years trying to escape being an ordinary actor. The irony is that after becoming a star, he may need to rediscover that freedom.
