Just before the film’s release Vijay Deverakonda had made a statement that the #BoycottBollywood trend is overrated, and if some trolls don’t want to see his film, they can choose not to watch it. He said they would anyhow watch it on TV or mobile later.
A senior Mumbai theatre owner, Manoj Desai, had slammed Deverakonda as arrogant. Manoj Desai is the owner of the very popular Maratha Mandir and Gaiety Galaxy and also produced the magnum opus Khuda Gawah starring Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna in the 90s, criticized Vijay for his reckless remarks on the boycott movement. He also said Deverakonda was to blame for the movie’s unfavorable reviews following its premiere.
To clear out any misunderstanding, Vijay met Manoj Desai on Saturday night. After the meeting, Manoj Desai released a video and said that all misconceptions had been cleared and wished Vijay Deverakonda all the best. He also added that Vijay is a nice and down-to-earth boy, and his next film, Kushi, would be released on a grand scale in his theater.
Desai said that his main complaint was that stars encouraged people to watch films on OTT, which is a dangerous trend.
