Chiranjeevi scored a solid Sankranti hit with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The film performed well at the box office and recently completed 50 days in 109 centers, a rare milestone in today’s theatrical scenario.
Now, Chiranjeevi is preparing to begin his next project with director Bobby Kolli. At the same time, he is also ready to share an important update about his much-delayed fantasy drama Vishwambhara.
Vishwambhara was initially expected to release last year. However, despite starting production much earlier, it could not reach theaters due to the outright negative response to the VFX shown in the teaser. The heavy backlash forced the team to revisit the visual effects work, leading to significant delays.
There were also reports that the production house UV Creations faced financial pressure, as a large portion of its resources had already been invested in the film. It was widely discussed that they were not ready for additional spending on VFX as the film had gone overbudget already. At the same time, industry buzz suggested that Chiranjeevi himself was not satisfied with the VFX quality even after rework, as it did not match current standards, which resulted in further delays. Recent reports, however, indicate that these issues have now been sorted out.
According to the latest industry talk, Vishwambhara is likely targeting a June or July release this year. Post-production is said to be progressing quickly, and sources claim that most of the VFX work is nearing completion.
There is also strong buzz that the makers are planning a special update for Ugadi. They may announce the official release date along with fresh promotional material. The team reportedly plans to build momentum with songs and a strong trailer. Once the OTT deal is finalized, there are expected to be no major obstacles left for the theatrical release.
With one hit already in hand, Chiranjeevi would want Vishwambhara to continue that momentum. If it fails at the box office, it could slow down his current success streak. At present, the film’s buzz is almost dead, and all eyes are on the Ugadi update to see whether it can reignite some excitement among fans.
