Weak Competition For Spyder In Tamil?

Teaser of Tamil star Siva Karthikeyan’s upcoming film Velaikkaran is out. It is going to release on September 29 making it a direct competition of Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Spyder, a bilingual made in Telugu and Tamil.

Siva Karthikeyan is on a roll with back to back successful films in the past few years. However, the one common element among all those films was they were all pure commercial entertainers with romance as the focus. Here, one feels a different vibe. It seems to be a message oriented movie with rich and poor working class divide. It also doesn’t have the grand scale. It is an uncharted terrain for the happy-go-lucky hero and audience might not be interested to see the star in such a setting.

Simply put, the Siva Karthikeyan starrer appears weak in scale, before a biggie like Spyder. And even among the Sivakarthikeyan films, Velaikkaran seems a heavy subject to digest. Does it mean Mahesh Babu is gaining an edge in Tamil for Dussera with AR Murugadoss by his side? What earlier looked impossible might be a possible reality now.
