Why Obama is glad that their parents went there?

The dominance of immigrants in science and technology spheres of the United States is once again evident in a White House science fair. At least five of the 30 projects selected across the country for this annual White House science fair were contributed by the students of Indian-origin.

Their prominence even caught the attention of US President Barack Obama and he went on to say “Their parents came here as immigrants and we are glad they did,” stressing on the importance of the immigrants in the country.

Obama even personally examined the projects of Anvita Gupta, Ruchi Pandya, and Nikhil Behari and later questioned them closely. He even mentioned them during his speech. This incident comes at the time when there is an outcry from certain sections of the country that immigrants are taking away American jobs and undermine the US economy.
