Will Pooja Shout for the Same in Tollywood?

Pooja Hegde isn’t the first actress who said that actresses need to be paid equally along with their male counterparts as they are able to carry an entire movie on their shoulders and sell the female-centric movie with their names. She thinks that it’s time that actresses need to be paid equality and erase the pay disparity.

2019 is one of those years when more than a couple of female-centric movies have done so phenomenally well and quite effortlessly joined the 100 crore club in Bollywood. Alia Bhatt’s ‘Raazi’, Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Veer Di Wedding’ and Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika’ showed the power of women in pulling crowds to the theatres. So, Pooja Hegde has got a point and her argument will stand fast when there is a dialogue about equal pay.

As far as Pooja Hegde is concerned, she was never a heroine in a female-centric movie. Of course, she was lucky enough to feature in big movies with star heroes playing the lead. She took the examples of Bollywood movies when she expressed her opinion on equal pay. Will she do the same in Tollywood, even? Tollywood audiences see her as a glam doll as she didn’t appear in a substantial role yet.
